Camping Checklist

Note: This is a list of Essential Camping Gear for camping with Red Oak Grove. We bring all the kitchen and cooking equipment, so you don’t have to. If you are going camping on your own, you’ll obviously have to add lots of other items to prepare your meals.

Shelter and Bedding:
Ground cloth or tarp for under the tent
Tent, with rope, pegs, hammer, etc. 
Tarp and/or rain fly for over the tent
Sleeping bag, sheets, extra blankets, pillow
Sleeping pad or cot or air mattress, with air pump, batteries, etc.

Eating and drinking
Food for pot luck meals, or personal food you might want or need 
Cooler & Ice 
Mess kit (fork, knife, spoon, dish, bowl, cup)
‘Personal’ beverages (Most State Parks do not allow alcohol. 
Please use your own judgment and discretion and do not get caught with any.)

Clothes, etc.
Shirts, pants, shorts, swimsuit, as needed for the season
Ritual garb, if you like
Rain gear
Lots of socks (wet socks are a real drag – bring extras)
Extra shoes/boots
Sweater/sweatshirt/jacket & hat/cap
(novice campers are frequently surprised how cold it gets at night, even in Summer)
Toiletries: tooth brush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.
Towel(s)
Sun block & bug spray

Other Important Items
Maps, Directions and instructions, so you can find the place!
Praise Offering for Ritual
A camp chair, unless you like sitting on the ground
Pocket knife
Lantern/flashlight & extra batteries
(you ALWAYS run out when you don't expect to)


Optional stuff you might want to bring:
Musical instrument
Personal medication (asthma inhaler, insulin, Ritalin, etc.)
Camera, film
Candles, matches, lighter
Cell phone
Frisbee, ball, cards, games, book to read etc.
Compass
Notebook, pen and paper
Binoculars
